SMG-32 Reprimand guide for Helldivers 2: hard-hitting burst SMG with medium armor pen, best at 10-30m, tame recoil, reload smart, and pair with Railgun or Quasar for heavies.

The first time you pick up the SMG-32 Reprimand, you'll probably grin… and then immediately regret it. The thing punches way harder than its size suggests, but the recoil isn't "a bit much," it's a straight-up argument with your crosshair. If you're the type who likes to prep your runs—sorting your kit, topping up boosters, even grabbing extra supplies from places like EZNPC when you want to stay focused on missions instead of chores—this weapon fits that same mindset: planned, controlled, and not panicked.

How It Really Shoots

On paper, 490 RPM doesn't sound scary until you notice what each round does. The Reprimand hits for heavy damage and has medium armor penetration, which means it doesn't just annoy Devastators or Scout Striders—it actually deletes them when you place your shots. The trade-off is brutal: a 25-round magazine. You burn it fast if you "just hold mouse one," and that long reload feels like it's happening in slow motion the moment something angry closes the gap. You're not running this like a bullet hose. You're running it like a compact battle rifle that happens to be full-auto.

Trigger Discipline And Reload Timing

What made it click for me was treating every fight like I'm budgeting ammo. I tap 2–4 round bursts, let the sight settle, then do it again. Pull down hard as you fire, but don't overcorrect or you'll start drilling knees. The other habit is reloading early. Don't wait for the click. If you can keep a round in the chamber, you dodge the slowest part of the reload and you stay alive more often than you'd think. Range matters too. Keep it inside about 30 meters and it feels mean and reliable; beyond that, you're spending precious rounds fighting drop and shake instead of enemies.

Attachments And Matchups

Recoil control is the whole build. A Vertical Foregrip plus a Compensator is the setup I'd bet on, because it turns the weapon from "wild" into "manageable." Extended mags sound tempting, but they don't fix the part that's killing your accuracy, and the gun can start to feel clunky. If you're in bug missions where you're hip-firing during breaches, a different muzzle can help, but I still lean stability over everything else. In fights, aim for heads on bots and weak points on anything armored; the gun rewards clean hits way more than it rewards enthusiasm.

Loadouts That Let It Shine

The Reprimand works best when it's your medium-target problem solver and your support tools handle the rest. Against bots, I like pairing it with a Railgun for Hulks and a Supply Pack so I'm never rationing mags at the worst time. In bug territory, bring something that answers Chargers without drama, like a Quasar Cannon, and let the Reprimand chew through the tough "in-between" threats that normally waste your primary ammo. If you want to lean into that prepared, efficient playstyle, it's worth sorting your kit ahead of time—some players even stock up on Helldivers 2 Items so their focus stays on burst control, early reloads, and getting out clean.
