In Forza Horizon 6 (FH6), set against the backdrop of Japan’s stunning landscapes, choosing your first car is a key step in your road to becoming a Horizon Legend. The game offers over 550 cars at launch, but your starter car will shape your early experiences. Let's dive into the options and help you make the best choice!

The Official Starter Trio

In FH6, you’ll start your journey by choosing from three distinct vehicles, each designed to cater to different driving styles. These initial choices will define how you approach the first few hours of gameplay, so pick wisely!

1. 1989 Nissan Silvia K's (S13) – RWD Street/Drift

Best For: Navigating tight city streets and mastering the art of drifting through Tokyo’s industrial districts.

Why Choose It: If you're into drifting and prefer rear-wheel drive (RWD), this Silvia offers an authentic feel, especially on the narrow streets of urban Japan. It's ideal for those who want to get comfortable with precise handling and balance.

2. 1994 Toyota Celica GT-Four – AWD Rally/Dirt

Best For: Taking on technical mountain passes (Touge) and conquering dirt and rally-style races.

Why Choose It: The Celica GT-Four’s all-wheel drive (AWD) makes it a beast on the dirt and gravel roads. If you're aiming for high stability while tackling rough, twisty mountain roads, this car is the one to go for. It’s great for beginners and experienced drivers alike.

3. 1970 GMC Jimmy – 4x4 Off-Road

Best For: Exploring rugged biomes and joining off-road events.

Why Choose It: If you want to experience the thrill of off-roading, the GMC Jimmy is the perfect choice. Its powerful 4x4 drivetrain is built to handle tough terrain, making it a great option for anyone who loves exploring FH6's vast open world off the beaten path.

Early-Game Performance & Progression

Unlike previous Horizon titles, FH6 introduces a more structured progression system with the Wristband system. Instead of having access to supercars right away, you’ll need to earn wristbands to unlock higher-tier car classes for more advanced Festival races.

Lower Classes (D-B): For your first few hours, you’ll be working within the D to B car classes. Vehicles like the Toyota AE86 or Honda Civic Type R are excellent early cars to buy with credits once you have some saved up. These are great for players who want to start with an agile, lightweight car for tight corners and small courses.

The Cover Car: The game’s explosive prologue will introduce you to the 2025 Toyota GR GT, an iconic, modern vehicle. You’ll likely get a chance to drive it early on as part of the story, so enjoy the ride!

How to Get an Early Edge

If you’re looking for ways to gain an advantage early in the game, here are a few tips:

1. Pre-order Bonus:

Players who pre-order Forza Horizon 6 get an instant bonus: a custom-tuned Ferrari J50 parked in their garage. It’s a fantastic way to get a head start in terms of speed and performance.

2. Aftermarket Cars:

Keep an eye out for "Aftermarket Cars" scattered throughout the open world. These are pre-tuned cars (like a Rocket Bunny Honda S2000) that you can test-drive and purchase at a discounted price. They're perfect for players who want to jump into the action without worrying about tuning their cars.

3. Explore "Discover Japan":

This side path has no car class restrictions, so you can use any car you own, even before unlocking the higher-level wristbands. If you win a fast car from a Wheelspin, you can take it into Touge battles and Street Races immediately, offering a unique advantage as you explore the world.

Your first car in Forza Horizon 6 is an important decision, but don’t worry—you won’t be stuck with it for long. While each car offers a different experience, FH6 encourages exploration and progression, so you'll quickly unlock the other two starter vehicles. Whether you want to drift through city streets, conquer mountain trails, or take on the rugged countryside, there's a perfect option for your driving style.
