I've had my Jeep Wrangler for just over two years now and I absolutely love the thing, but I'll be honest – I'm not exactly the most mechanically minded person when it comes to maintenance schedules and all that stuff. I've been pretty good about oil changes and basic servicing, but I realized recently that I've never actually had the suspension system properly inspected or maintained, which is probably not ideal considering how much I take it off-road during the winter months. I do a fair bit of desert driving around Al Qudra and occasionally head out to Fossil Rock with some mates, so my suspension definitely gets worked pretty hard compared to someone who just does city driving. The thing is, I'm not really sure what I should be looking out for or how often I should be getting things checked – I've heard everything from every 10,000 kilometers to only when something feels wrong, which is confusing to say the least. I know that Jeep suspension maintenance done by experts is probably the smart way to go rather than just relying on my local general garage, but I'm also not sure what a proper suspension service actually involves or how much I should expect to pay for it. Do they just do a visual inspection and check for leaks, or should they be actually taking things apart and replacing bushings and joints proactively? I'd really rather be preventative about this rather than waiting for something to break and leaving me stranded somewhere in the middle of the desert with no phone signal. Any advice from fellow Jeep owners who've got a proper maintenance routine would be really helpful because I want to keep this car running well for years to come.
